about

Who makes Mudlark.

Mudlark is written, sold, and supported by one person, Jeffrey Hilger, an independent developer in Irvine, California.

how it works as a business

Mudlark costs $4.99 once, on the Mac App Store or as a direct download with a 14-day trial. That purchase is the whole business. There is no subscription, no advertising, and no investor. The price covers Apple’s and Lemon Squeezy’s fees, the developer account, hosting for this site and the updater, and the crash-reporting service. What is left pays for the time to keep building it.

what that means for you

The app does not track you, because there is nothing to gain from it and no one to sell it to. Your notes are plain text files on your Mac, so they outlive the app, and you can move them anywhere whenever you want to. Updates come with the license you already bought. If I ever stop working on Mudlark, the copy you have keeps running, and the files still open in any text editor.

support

Email [email protected] or use the feedback form. I read every message and usually reply within a few days. Bug reports with steps to reproduce get looked at first.

the legal pages

The terms of use say who sells the app, what the license covers, and how refunds work. The privacy policy lists every network connection the app and this site make.
