questions & answers

? Is there a Windows or Linux version?

Not yet. Mudlark is built on AppKit and leans on macOS for quick capture, Shortcuts, and global keybindings. A cross-platform version isn’t planned near-term.

? Where is my data stored?

On your Mac. By default, in Mudlark’s internal database (kept under ~/Library/Application Support/Mudlark). Pick a vault folder in Settings › Data and your notes are mirrored there as plain .mudlark files you can browse, back up, or sync.

? Can I use it with iCloud / Dropbox / Syncthing?

Yes. Point your vault at any cloud-synced folder. Mudlark reads and writes .mudlark files directly, and the sync app does the rest.

? Does Mudlark collect analytics?

No usage tracking and no advertising. Mudlark doesn’t record which features you use, how often you open the app, or what you write. The one thing it can send is an anonymous crash report, which is off by default and never includes note content. The privacy policy covers the details.

? Can I try before buying?

Yes. 14 days of the full app, with no email or payment details required.

? What happens when the trial ends?

Mudlark drops to read-only. Your notes stay open, you can still export anywhere, and a small Activate pill in the corner unlocks editing when you buy a license.

? Can I move my license to a new Mac?

Yes. Click Deactivate in Settings › General on the old Mac, then activate with your key on the new one. A license covers 3 Macs at a time.

? How do updates work?

Through a built-in updater. Mudlark checks for new versions and offers to install them. You can turn automatic checks off in Settings › General, or check manually from there.
